LUMIERE LOUIS: (1864-1948) French engineer who played a key role in the development of photography and cinema. Louis Lumiere was a French Pioneer Filmmaker along with his brother Auguste. A fine T.L.S., Louis Lumiere, one page, Bandol, Var, 12th February 1947, on his Villa Lumen personal printed stationery, to Monsieur Raymond Langlois, in French. Lumiere refers to his correspondent´s letter received that same day, and states `J´ai reçu, ce matin, votre lettre ainsi que celle du CONSEIL NATIONAL DES INVENTEURS que je vous retourne ci-incluse après l´avoir signée au milieu des signatures de mes Confrères de l´Académie. Je souhaite une parfaite et rapide réussite à ce projet et vous prie de croire, Cher Monsieur, à mes sentiments les meilleurs.´ (Translation: "I received, this morning, your letter as well as that of the NATIONAL COUNCIL OF INVENTORS which I return to you hereinafter having signed it among the signatures of my Colleagues of the Academy.
