An excellent bold ink attractive Autograph Musical Quotation in the hand of Ravel, two pages, large twenty-two staves musical score pages, 10.5 x 13.5 (27 cm x 35 cm), n.p. [Paris], n.d. with text in French. Ravel has cleanly penned a fugue for four voices, in five tempi, with 34 bars over four staves. The score also includes multiple annotations in the hand of Ravel. The present autograph musical score corresponds to the time when Ravel was studying composition at the Paris Conservatory. G to VG

Although Ravel´s artistic achievements at the Parisian Conservatory were notable, so were his failures too. He specially failed in the fugue compositions. Under Fauré, his teacher and mentor, he intensively worked on these compositions intending to present them to the Rome young composer´s contest.
