DI STEFANO ALFREDO: (1926-2014) Argentine football player, remembered for his achievements with Real Madrid & MATTHEWS STANLEY (1915-2000) English football player, associated with Stoke City and Blackpool. Matthews and Di Stefano, regarded as two of the best footballers in the history of the game, were the first winners of the Ballon d´Or in 1956 & 1957 respectively. A good vintage signed and inscribed 12 x 15 photograph by both Di Stefano and Matthews individually, the image depicting the players standing in full-length poses, shaking hands as they exchange pennants before the referee P. P. Roomer of the Netherlands, at the centre circle of the Victoria Ground pitch, ahead of the match played between Stoke City and Real Madrid to celebrate the former´s centenary, on 24th April 1963. Signed to the image by Di Stefano in blue ink and by Matthews in black fountain pen ink.
