COOPER GARY: (1901-1961) American actor, Academy Award winner. An excellent vintage signed and inscribed sepia 11 x 14 photograph of Cooper in a dapper half-length pose, wearing a polka dot bow tie, and holding a harmonica in his hands. Signed in dark fountain pen ink to a light area of the image, 'To Lucila - With my best regards - Gary Cooper', further adding the words "Sergt York" and date, 1941, in his hand beneath his signature. In 1941 Cooper starred in the title role of the biographical film Sergeant York, winning the Best Actor Academy Award for his performance as Alvin C. York, one of the most decorated American soldiers of World War I.
