GREENSTREET SYDNEY: (1879-1954) English actor, an Academy Award nominee for Best Supporting Actor in 1941 for his role as Kasper Gutman in The Maltese Falcon. A good vintage signed and inscribed sepia 8 x 10 photograph of Greenstreet in a half-length pose wearing a hat, overcoat and scarf, and holding a cigar in one hand, in costume as Dr. Lorenz, a professor of sociology and enemy spy, from the American espionage film Across the Pacific (1942) which also starred Humphrey Bogart and Mary Astor. Signed by Greenstreet in blue fountain pen ink across a darker area of the image, although with a good inscription to Phyllis Thaxter, ´To Phyllis, Here´s looking at you "Across the Pacific", Dr. Lorenz, love Sydney´.
