HACKMAN GENE: (1930- ) American actor, Academy Award winner for Best Actor in 1971 for his role as Jimmy ‘Popeye’ Doyle in The French Connection. Signed 8 x 10 photograph of Hackman in a head and shoulders pose in costume as college professor Gene Garrison from the drama film I Never Sang for My Father (1970). Signed by Hackman in blue ink with his name alone to a largely light area at the base of the image. It was for his performance in this role that Hackman was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award. EX
