HERSHOLT JEAN: (1886-1956) Danish-born American actor who served as President of the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences 1945-49 and was the recipient of three Honorary Academy Awards. The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, itself an Honorary Academy Award (or Oscar) was set up in his honour. A good vintage signed and inscribed sepia 8 x 10 photograph of the dapper actor standing in a three-quarter length pose and holding a cigar in one hand.
