FONTAINE JOAN: (1917- ) British-born American actress, Academy Award winner for Best Actress in 1941 for her role as Lina McLaidlaw Aysgarth in Suspicion. A good signed 8 x 10 photograph, the original vintage RKO Radio Pictures publicity portrait of 1946 depicting the actress in an appealing head and shoulders pose. Signed by Fontaine in bold blue ink with her name alone to a light area at the base of the image. A pencil annotation in the hand of a collector to the verso indicates that the signature was obtained in person at the Rainbow Grill in New York on 3rd October 1977 following an appearance by Joshua Logan at the venue.
