IBSEN HENRIK: (1828-1906) Norwegian playwright, one of the founders of modernism in theatre. A fine vintage signed and inscribed cabinet photograph, the sepia albumen print by Emil Hohlenberg of Copenhagen depicting Ibsen seated in a half-length pose. Signed (´Henrik Ibsen´) and inscribed by Ibsen in dark fountain pen ink to the verso, in Norwegian, ´Til Ludwig Passarge med venskab og taknemmelighed´ (Translation: ´To Ludwig Passarge with friendship and gratitude´) and dated at Munich, 16th December 1886, in his hand. With the photographer´s imprint to the lower mount and gilt edges. Some extremely minor, light age wear and one very tiny pinhole to the upper edge of the image, otherwise VG
